Road Trip: Garden Route
Ashton and I were lucky enough to get our hands on a few nights accomodation in Heralds Bay at the Oubaai Hotel Golf and Spa, followed by a night at the Luxurious Emily Moon. Over the last weeks we've driven the N2 from Cape Town to Sedgefield and every where in between so many times that the idea of going over Sir Lowry's pass one more time, was just too much. We decided to head along the N1, through the tunnel and on to see what Route 62 had to offer.
We stopped for a few quick pics in the small town named, Ashton. It's a little strange to drive through a town and see your wife's name on EVERY sign board ;)
We carried on to Barrydale and had lunch at Ronnies Sex Shop - It has absolutely nothing to do with sex - After I posted a picture or two, it occurred to me that people may think we actually had lunch at a sex shop.... Um, no, we did not :)
Just before arriving in Herolds Bay, we went over the Outeniqua pass - It is literally breath taking - So beautiful. It could be from a scene out of Jurassic Park. At about this stage of the day, the rain arrived and seemed to have very little plans of going anywhere.
We checked into the self catering accommodation alongside the golf course and then headed to what seems to be the only restaurant in Heralds Bay, Dutton's Cove - Friendly service, good view and a great view, what more can you ask for?
The weather hadn't improved much by the morning and Ashton's folks were in George for the day visiting the car show, so we met up with them - The Car show was Massive. Huge, unlike anything I've ever seen. (Not that I'm an expert) That evening, Ashton and I headed to The Waterside Grill for a 6 course Valentines Dinner. It was Amazing. Go there for dinner, beg them to make the Valentines Dinner Menu.
On Sunday we spent some of the day at the Hotel Spa and then played around at Herald's bay beach for a little while, before heading for dinner in George and then on Monday, before making our way to Emily Moon we met up with Ashton's folks for Lunch at Salina's in the Wilderness.
So basically we ate, ate, ate, lay about and ate. That's what vacations are for right?
And then I just wanted to play around a little, so I did exactly that with these shots.
