The Keown Girls
In December 2013, the Keowns from America came to visit their family in South Africa. With the whole family enjoying the fairest Cape, we decided it was time for a family shoot. (2013 sounds so long ago - It was actually only 13 months back). I love the energy of a large family shoot - Everyone is initially shy and then brave (safety in numbers)... The dynamic with a large family shoot and that of a smaller, intimate group is very different though. Generally, if I photograph the full family, I encourage the ones that enjoyed the experience to do it again, as a smaller group - The results are very different since the entire shoot (hour) is dedicated to them, so they are much more relaxed and we're able to get some fun candid shots.
This was the case with the Keown sisters, Hannah & Emma. We spent an hour together on the weekend and they were able to relax and goof around, and I was able to be there to capture it all. How beautiful are these girls. Amazing. So happy we were able to do this, all we need now is to find some time (and plane tickets) to photograph their US based cousins :)
[I love the shot of them 'whipping their hair back and forth' - Totally inspired by super talented photographer Lizelle Lotter - It's something I saw her doing during one of her shoots.]
