Royal Malewane
Earlier this year, the lovely ladies from Travel Artistry Africa were in touch with me - They specialise in tailoring luxury travel experiences in Africa for their international clients and they had a large group flying out from New York to spend some time on Safari before heading to Cape Town. The family wanted a photographer to document these travels. We worked out the logistics and within days I was seated on a flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit, heading to the luxurious Royal Malewane. I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but without hesitation I can tell you, I loved every second. I was made to feel incredibly welcome - The team behind the brand go way beyond what is required, always kind, always generous, always with a smile.... And then there are the game drives. Expert guides on the open top safari vehicles, full of knowledge, filled with passion, constantly reassuring you of your safety as you inch closer to view the wild life.
This private game reserve is very different to what you may be used to, in that you don't have to be out on a game drive to have a wildlife encounter. Whether you're sitting enjoying lunch on the deck, or sipping afternoon tea while watching elephants drinking from the watering hole. You may even be enjoying an afternoon spa treatment - There is wildlife everywhere. It is the ultimate luxury bush experience.
I literally could gush on for hours about this amazing lodge, instead, I'll just tell you that I'm a little disappointed as I do believe any future Safari type adventures have been spoilt by the beauty that is Royal Malewane.
