Meet Cooper
When I was young, I had an irrational fear of dogs which was strange since we’d always had dogs of our own – Big, playful, friendly Ridgebacks. I’d go to friend’s homes and dread going inside because I’d have to pass the dog. In high school when I’d walk home from the bus stop, I’d turn back and choose a different route if there was a dog in the road – Some days it would take forever to get home because I’d just stand and wait, praying the dog would go back inside, so I could walk pass. The year after I matriculated, my parents bought a Staffie pup. This ‘vicious’ breed of dog now belonged to us and every stereotype I’d heard of them being wild & crazy was completely blown out of the window. I was in love with this calm, affectionate, disciplined & protective dog. Her name was Empress Club and the moment she entered, my fear of dogs disappeared. Gone. Many years on, Empress went to forever play at the big farm in the sky and my parent’s home seemed empty. Eventually, when they were ready, they welcomed a new staffie - A gallant boy named Gazza – His brother Diego took up residence in my brothers home. I wished there were three pups because I wanted one too, but I waited, the timing wasn’t right. Alongside my photography brand, I created a little business & called it Colourful Cooper (It was the face of Fridge Magnets I’d had manufactured - I can still sell you some if you like). At the time, the logo included a little French Bulldog… He was Cooper and I knew that one day I'd own him and his personality would be “Colourful”. Ashton and I met soon after my mass manufacturing of magnets and I explained the logic behind the naming of the company. Over time, we agreed, one day we would own a French Bulldog named Cooper. [I want to say we agreed straight away, but I think I explained this on our first date, and well, it would be mad if we’d agreed on that night. I’m not saying we didn’t, I’m just saying it’s a bit mad :) ] Fast forward 5 years and here we are. Meet Cooper. He’s colourful! He's also calm, well behaved, loving and the cutest thing on four legs. I’m not even going to go into how this came to be or how incredibly happy we are, I’m just going to say that I am a firm believer that when the time is right, the world finds a way and your wildest dreams can come true. CMSP - Thank you for the part you’ve played, without you, we wouldn’t have this Cooper and well, this Cooper, he’s perfect. Sita – Thank you. He is a such a beautiful dog and so well behaved. We’re so happy he is now a part of our lives.
