The Coolest Camera Collection

When we were last in Tulbagh, Ashton's dad went into his workshop and came out with an old brown suitcase filled with old camera equipment which used to belong to his father - Film camera's that had been used in the 1960's when he worked as a journalist in Durban. How cool is that?

Imagine for just a second the images these camera's have captured. The things they've seen. The stories they've helped to tell.

Technology is amazing in that things are always getting better. Faster, less noise, more intense colour, easier to use - Across all platforms. The other day I cleaned out the drawers in the study and found 3 older model cellphones. Nokia, Blackberry and an iPhone - All still really cool phones (I posted a photo to instagram), but now obsolete because something faster, smarter, has come along.

I wish I'd been able to keep all the camera's I've owned so that I could look back on them one day. With my Nikon, as I upgrade, I sell the previous version to afford the new one. (I do always keep one older model which I use as a backup / 2nd body).

Of course keeping things just for the sake of being able to look back at them doesnt really make sense - Most of the time - In this instance, I'm glad they did, because now I'm excited to learn more about each of these camera's and understand how they were used & whether any of them still work. I'll keep you posted :)

I have a 35mm Ricoh film camera gifted to me by my aunt that I use every now and then - I'm waiting patiently to finish the film to have it developed. That will be interesting.
