A Day in Tulbagh
It’s June. June! That’s the 6th month of the year. Is it just me or do you also find that as you get older, it seems like time goes by more quickly. Not great. I took a look and my last blog post was in April. Shocking. Shocking. I’ve thought about why that is, and a huge factor has to be, I have started Crossfit. Now, I know, that doesn’t seem like much of a reason to be slack, but let me tell you, crikey moses, if you’ve never tried it, it’s a really, really, valid reason.
I have always trained three times a week in the very early hours of the morning. The it’s so dark and cold outside kind of hours of the morning. No problem. On the other two days, for weeks / months / years I have tried to get myself motivated to do some cardio and I have managed to get it going for a little while and then I give up. I figured I would try something new. I joined Crossfit the first week of April (just after my last blog post), twice a week in the evenings and I have been exhausted ever since. Lol. Ok, it hasn’t been that bad, but it’s close. It’s taken me two months to find my rhythm and while my body is generally still very tired, I’m finding ways to work on my business again. Remember, I work in corporate during the day, so evenings and weekends are for my business, so the new load has been hectic. I am happy to report, I’m getting there.
So what have I been too slack to tell you about since April – Well, there have been lots of behinds the scenes work. Assisting and second shooting for photographers at weddings and styled shoots, some happy-events photography (which I don’t generally post online) and I’ve been focusing on making my business better. Enhanced. I’ve signed up for workshops with some great photographers to learn their approach to off camera flash, composition, food photography & business. I’m very excited about things to come in the next few months.
This year, (which we’re almost half way through), I want to spend some time thinking about things I want to photograph and I want to make the time to do just that. Styled Shoots, People in love, Joy, Food, Celebrations. I want to soak it all in and be inspired.
On Saturday we headed to Tulbagh to visit Ashton’s parents – I packed my camera with and during the day, in between the rain fall and just before lunch, we took a quick drive through the valley. It’s such a beautiful town and now, in Winter, the colours are just all over the place. Browns, oranges, reds, greens – There is so much to see.
If you’d like to visit this little town – Just a little over an hour outside of Cape Town – This could be the perfect time. At the end of June the town will host Christmas in Winter. It is bound to be fun, check out Tulbagh Tourism for more info.
In the meanwhile, this was 45 minutes of getting out there, breathing in the elements and enjoying the sights.
