Baby Bump: Kirsty and Ruari
When I heard that Kirsty and Ruari were expecting their first child and wanted a baby bump shoot, I started to get very excited. You see, I knew that we’d have a good time regardless because they’re very kind and caring individuals…… But as we discussed ideas for the shoot, I was holding thumbs that included in the mix would be a few of Kirsty’s horses. Since their first born little boys room is Nautically themed - To incorporate that and their love of the sea, we started on the beach close to their home in Kommetjie before heading off to Imhoff Farm a little way down the road where Kirsty runs a riding school.
I have loved every shoot I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of and during every shoot there is a moment when I just can’t believe my luck while peering through the lens, but I think hands down, there were moments during this one where I consciously had to control myself from shouting AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH-Mazing…. In the moments where there are 2 horses, 2 dogs and a pretty awesome couple positioned in breath taking light, you don’t want to make a sound in fear of waking up … or them moving.
The white horse is Adam (31 years old) – Calm, relaxed … perfectly poised and the brown is Chalidon who Kirsty rides in WP Eventing competitions. Kirsty had arranged for some help getting the horses in and out of the stables and down to the field [ Thank you ;) ], but even at 32 weeks pregnant doesn’t shy away from getting involved.
What an experience to be invited to document this moment in this families life. Such passion, love and commitment. So privileged.
Thank you Kirsty and Ruari for an incredible afternoon, we had and awesome time….. and because I couldn’t say it enough during the shoot…. AAAAAAHHHHHHH-Mazing!
