Mauritius

In January 2017 we boarded the MSC Sinfonia and headed to Namibia with our good friends the Jones's - During that week long break we decided we needed to start planning our next trip, Mauritius.

I've found that really is the only way to do it - Decide, book and then figure out how you're going to pay for it - Perhaps not the best approach, but it's the one that works for me :o  

Luckily, Ashton and I both love beach holidays, so Mauritius was an obvious choice - It's only a few hours from Cape Town, has amazing beaches, no snakes on the island & very few Great White Sharks - (I think that's true - I convinced myself it was)....  YES!!!

If you're the adventurous type, there is plenty to do - Hiking, Snorkelling, Fishing, Shopping, whatever you fancy really.  Thing is, the appeal of Mauritius for me, is to skip all of that and just RELAX on the beach or at your resort pool all day!!!  Late to bed, early up and out of your room, just relaxing poolside... So that was pretty much the daily flow of our trip.

We did do a Catamaran trip on the Harris Wilson (I highly recommend this - The crew are unbelievable, it's a great day out on the water) & we spent a day wondering around Port Louis, Grand Baie, etc.

We chose to stay at the Zilwa Attitude hotel which is up in the North West of the Island - It's a great 4 star all inclusive resort and was perfect for us. If you're considering booking here and want to know a little more before you do, give me a shout - Or you can read my review on TripAdvisor ;0

For the last 2 nights went all the way down south to Outrigger.  (Tip:  We paid for one night and received one night free by using a voucher supplied in the 2017 version of the Entertainer App).

All in all, it was an amazing vacation and I can easily say that I will visit Mauritius AGAIN (It was my 2nd trip and wont be me last).

Photographers note - I always take a point on shoot on vacation (Nikon W300 underwater camera) and then take my backup DSLR + 50mm & 24mm lens.  I spend 1 day with the DSLR (Sunrise & Sunset) photographing everything I want and then I leave it locked away in the room for the rest of my stay so that I actually switch off and get to focus on why I'm there - These images are the results of the two camera's ;)
