About ten years ago I was briefly introduced to Tracey. She’d just moved back to Cape Town after working in London for a few years. We chatted for a few minutes, exchanging pleasantries. I don’t remember too much after that, but it wasn’t too long before we were in each other’s company again. Within a short space of time I knew we were friends. I’ve got your back no matter what kind of friends. It was as simple as that.
Over the years we’ve spent many hours together. Laughing, watching movies, talking, drinking & eating. I’ve seen her fall in love & get married to a really great guy (I was the MC at their wedding). Her and Ashton have also become really good friends – They’ve even conspired behind my back and tricked me into eating anchovies. Honestly, I’m still not quite sure how I feel about that. Hmm. We have since agreed to Orange sherbet the event, so I guess I should move on.
She’s always been very interested in food. Always making plans. Always getting people together to try new restaurants, new experiences, new flavours. Always insisting I try seafood. Never gonna happen.
At the start of 2013, she did what very few people are willing to do and took a chance. She followed her dream by enrolling as a student with the intention of obtaining a Culinary Arts Diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking. (That’s a chef to you and me). You can read more about that here: Why Martha Who?
Needless to say, she is well on her way. Armed with her qualification and a vegetable dicing knife, she is now in the process of making a name for her Culinary Studio, Martha Who?
I’m very interested in Food Photography so it wasn’t too far a stretch to say, you cook, I’ll take the photographs? She agreed.
So in months to come I’ll be bringing you a combination of Ashton’s sweet treats courtesy of The Sweetest Things, and Tracey’s culinary delights via Martha Who?
We met on Sunday for our first styled shoot – More of that coming soon, but while it was all going down, I convinced Tracey to stop for a minute or two so I could introduce you to the lady behind the Martha Who? Brand. Meet Tracey Dewey.
